Australia's New South Wales is a truly magnificent state for a diverse motoring holiday.

It is fair to say that NSW, of all the states in Australia, offers the greatest variety of scenic wonders, diversity of vegetation and opportunity for recreational pursuits.

Within the boundaries of NSW, it is possible to enjoy the true meaning of the outback, the solitude of a golden beach, the lush growth of a tropical rainforest and the snow covered mountains of the highest peaks of the continent.

There are over 107 National Parks and Reserves, many of which are also classified as World Heritage, including such diversities as the rainforests of Mt Warning to the lunar landscapes of the Walls of China in Mungo National Park.

Compare the thriving City of Sydney to the vast emptiness of Sturt National Park, where the kangaroo population far outnumbers the human population, and you can begin to understand the boundless opportunities that await the visitor to this state.

THE ROADS
"All roads lead to Rome" could equally apply to Sydney, which in many ways acts as the state's main road epicenter, with five main highways leading to and from the city itself. Each of these lead in seperate directions, and offer highly different holiday experiences depending on which is taken. Some offer quiet, scenic routes from place to place, meanduring through wineries and national parks, while others are designed to get you from city to city as quickly as possible. New South Wales is the perfect place to simply choose your own direction and explore.

There are five main highways in New South Wales:

*	the Princes Hwy from Victoria to New South Wales, along the South-Eastern coast;
*	the Hume Hwy which joins Victoria to New South Wales with a minimum of fuss, and joins the Federal Highway to Canberra, the nation's capital and the Snowy Mountains;
*	the Pacific Hwy is New South Wales's main link to Queensland, and south to Victoria along the Eastern coast;
*	the Great Western Highway travels from Sydney over the spectacular Blue Mountains and on to the great western plains beyond;
*	the New England Highway travels from Newcastle west and north towards Queensland. It travels through the Hunter Valley, and offers an alternative route (west of the Great Dividing Range) to Brisbane and further north in Queensland.
*All are fully sealed, first-class roads.* Almost all 107 National Parks and Tourist Areas are serviced by sealed roads - easily navigable and simple to drive along in any vehicle. Due to the extreme diversity of New South Wales, some areas are only accessible during certain weather or season, and these can also include many 4WD areas.
